Staff Reporter

Plastic raw material worth lakhs of rupees was gutted in fire after a massive fire broke out at plastic factory in Govindpura Industrial Area in the wee hours on Friday.

The fire which broke around 4.30 in the morning soon engulfed the raw plastic material at the factory and it took around four hours for the fire tenders to completely douse the fire.

Soon after the fire was spotted locals informed the fire brigade and over a dozen fire tender vehicles were pressed into service.

As the factory was located near other plastic manufacturing units locals feared that the fire would damage massively but fire was pacified by the fire tenders before it could spread to nearby factories.

Fire officer Rameshwar Neel said that the fire was contained before it could spread to other facilities which could lead to massive damaged to the units.

In the fire no casualty was reported and no one was injured in the incident.

Initially, fire tender vehicles were dispatched from Govindpura fire stations and around a dozen fire tender vehicles and over four water tankers were involved in the pacifying the fire.

In the initial investigation short circuit was found to be the reason which was not ascertained and would be revealed later.

The fire tenders failed to found any fire extinguishers at the factory which was gutted in fire.

The owners of factories and manufacturing units have not shown interest for fire audit which was pending for long and same was intimated.
