Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a long-term plan was needed for holy city of Chitrakoot to facilitate devotees during their visiting there over the next 25 to 50 years and added that opinions of experts should also be elicited for this purpose.

Chouhan reviewed State’s law and order situation here on Monday. Home Minister Babulal Gaur was also present on the occasion.

Attaching top priority to law and order, the Chief Minister will hold discussions with senior officers of the Home department every Monday. The meeting was informed that 90 per cent encroachments in Chitrakoot have been removed with mutual consent. The CM directed to ensure that encroachments should not re-surface. In view of increasing number of devotees to Chitrakoot, the CM will write to the Union Railway Minister to increase number of trains. He directed to ensure tight security arrangements during ensuing festivals. Advance arrangements should be made at the places, which witness heavy rush, he added.

Home Minister Gaur said discussions will also be held with UP Government for arrangements at Chitrakoot. He suggested Mela tax imposed on pilgrims by Nagar Panchayat should be abrogated.

The meeting was informed that process was underway to constitute Chitrakoot Trust. A meeting of departments coming forward for all-round development of Chitrakoot will be held. Chief Secretary Anthony DeSa, DGP Nandan Dube, Principal Secretary Home Basant Pratap Singh, Additional DGP Sarabjeet Singh and OSD Sudhir Saxena were also present.
