Staff Reporter

Petrol pump owners threatened to go on an indefinite strike from June 26 of daily rate change decision is not withdrawn. Before this, the petrol pumps would remain closed in the State on June 16.  This was informed by State president of MP Petrol Pump Owners’ Association Ajay Singh on Tuesday.

The daylong strike on June 16 is proposed on which all 105 petrol pumps of the city would remain close and later would later go on indefinite strike from June 26 if demands are not met which seems a difficult thing at the moment said Singh.

Annoyed over the lack of initiation from the part of the administration and ministry Singh said that without automation it would be very difficult to adopt the daily rate change policy.

He said that a meeting is underway at Delhi with the senior officials of the oil companies and on Wednesday dealers of the MP association would be meeting at Ujjain to discuss further course of action.

Out of total number of petrol pumps around 30 per cent would be required to be automated and after which the process would be smoothen but the companies are in haste to implement the change without considering the outcomes.

In case if a dealer fails to comply with the new policy a penalty of Rs 5 lakh would be imposed but it is the responsibility of the company to complete the process of automation and without completing the process of automation how it is possible that the new policy could be adopted.
