The World AIDS Day was observed here on Tuesday by the students of the People’s Dental Academy in collaboration with the People’s College of Dental Sciences and RC, People’s University by the Department of Public Health Dentistry. A sapling plantation programme was organised in the campus, in which Dr Satish Karandikar, Dr Shaji Thomas and Head of departments Dr Vrinda Saxena and Dr Ajay Bhambal took part.
All the staff members participated whole heartedly and awareness campaign was organized to combat the global pandemic AIDS. This programme was inaugurated by Dean Academics and Registrar Peoples University Dr Neerja Mallick who motivated the volunteers by making her Magnanimous presence on this national Health event designated by WHO. Which is dedicated to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection most commonly amongst masses especially youngsters.
Prof Vivek Kocchar, Dr Naveen yadav and Dr Sanjeev Tyagi cooperated for smooth running of the entire show. Awareness Campaign was conducted at Haathi Gate (PU). Distribution of pamphlets and red ribbons was done among the security staff, auto rickshaw drivers, and patients attending the institution. The rally was flagged off and the grand procession started from the Ayodhya Slum with loud slogans rally was marched through Minal mall.
At Minal mall students created awareness by conducting a street play on AIDS awareness in an exemplary way gave message to the masses. Hats off to the students of both PDA & PCDS in making this program a great health education show. The rally followed by more than 500 students and staff was called off at university circle Peoples varsity and once again play was replayed.
