Whether it is State government or Centre, they are looting people to fill treasury by increasing petrol and diesel prices and making holes in the pockets of common man, alleged leader of Opposition in the State assembly Ajay Singh.
Singh has raised demand of waiver of VAT and tax on petrol and diesel.
He stated that the people of state are over burden with rising fuel prices and taxes imposed on petrol and diesel.
In the State, besides 31 per cent VAT, an additional tax of `4 has been imposed which has provided a revenue of 37 per cent as compared with other States in the past two years.
In the same manner, Central government has collected ` 1.75 lakh crore through indirect taxes on petroleum products. By increasing prices of petrol and diesel in the year 2015-16 government collected Rs 2.38 lakh and in the year 2016-17 the collection rose to ` 2.67 lakh which is a burden on the people and plundering common man.
At the time of UPA government indirect taxes on petroleum products in the year 2012-13 were ` 98602 crore but PM Modi lead government which claimed of curbing inflation increased taxes on petroleum products and increased the collection by around `1.75 lakh crore, Singh added.
