The absence of State Congress president Arun Yadav from the State Capital on the establishment day of the grand old party, has given a chance to other leaders to raise their claims for the post of PCC chief.
The presence of State Congress vice-president laxman Singh in the city on Sunday at the PCC office along with his elder brother and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh had indications in this direction. It was the foundation day of the Congress and PCC chief Arun Yadav was absent from the Congress office. In his absence, Digvijay Singh completed all the formalities for observing the foundation day by unfurling the party flag in the party office. He also did not leave the opportunity to ask his brother laxman Singh to work accordingly in the absence of the PCC chief.
Similarly, on Monday, sudden appearance of former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Kantilal Bhuria in the State Capital and raising the issue of atrocities against tribal community also gave a signal to Bhuria loyalists. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not controlling crimes against tribal women. He alleged that tribal community is being targeted throughout the country, but the Prime Minister is only a mute spectator.
Similar was the case with Suresh Pachouri, who recently organised a programme in the State Capital to name a road after the late former Union Minister Madhavrao Scindia. Congress parliamentarian Jyotiraditya Scindia was also invited at the function. Former Chairman of the Bhopal Municipal Council Kailash Mishra, who is being pitted by Pachouri as mayoral candidate of the party in Bhopal, was behind organising the function.
Notably, all these leaders remained absent from the political activities after party’s defeat in the Assembly and parliamentary elections. Since then, urban bodies polls have been conducted, but none of these leaders was out for campaigning in favour of party nominees.
