Panel says 'no' to admission process in private varsities

SR

Madhya Pradesh Private Universities Regulatory Commission (MPPURC) has declined to conduct admission process in private universities after private universities did not give their consent even after keeping the Commission waiting for over 20 days.

Now, the private universities are in a state of huge loss as no admission process exists for them, forcing the students seeking admission in other States.

While talking to The Pioneer MPPURC Chairman AK Pandey said that total 11 private universities in the State are running AICTE affiliated courses like Bachelors of Engineering, Masters of Business Administration (MBA) etc.

Till last year, admission in these universities were conducted through National-level counseling of AIEEE or MP-PET counseling but this year Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) had ordered MPPURC to carry out admission process in the universities.

Pandey further said that Amity University, Jaypee University of Technology and Engineering, ITM University, AKS Satna, Jagran lakecity and Techno Global University are going to participate in the admission process through Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) while the rest four universities – Peoples, Oriental, RKDF and Swami Vivekananda University were going to admit students through MP-PET.

He further said that the four private universities publicized, among the students, that admissions will be carried out through PET counseling but later DTE ordered against it. Private universities are not ready to admit students through a separate admission process than PET counseling, fearing that students will not interest in a new admission process.

Pandey said that though commission was ready to organise the admission process for the private universities but the delay caused by private universities in giving consent over the issue has forced the commission to refuse taking responsibility of admissions.

Admissions in all the other colleges and universities are going on and a new admission process can not be launched at this time as admissions are going to closed by July 30, added Pandey.
