Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria, who is facing lifetime ban on his cricket career, was in Datia on Tuesday to offer special prayers to Goddess Pitambara in Datia.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has hit back at spinner Danish Kaneria over his claim that he was not helped by the board to get a ban on his playing lifted because he is a Hindu.
Notably, Kaneria is one of the most successful spinners in Pakistan history and was banned for life in 2012 by the England and Wales
Cricket Board over his alleged role in spot-fixing in county cricket.
The leg-spinner is yet to admit his guilt and has constantly proclaimed his innocence to the media and fans.
Kaneria reached Noeda after coming to India and approached his guru Rajeshwar Mishra. later, they reached Pitambara peeth, known worldwide for tantric prayers for fulfilling wishes.
After performing prayers for over two hours, Kaneria told media persons that his only objective behind coming to Pitambara peeth was to offer prayers so that the lifetime ban imposed on his playing for Pakistani team could be lifted. "I still need to play cricket for my country and thus I need the ban to be lifted," he added.
In the past several other celebrities have approached Pitambara peeth to overcome their problems.
