The students aspiring to learn different forms of paintings have an opportunity to learn the Tribal Art. A painting workshop would be organised at Jawahar Bal Bhavan from May 10 where the students would discover the colourful world of tribal art.

The workshop would be held at Modern Art Section of Jawahar Bal Bhavan under the guidance of an eminent artist of the city Raj Saini and his assistant Manisha Methani.  While talking to The Pioneer, about the workshop Raj Saini said, "The lok Kala (Traditional Art) of any country describes its culture on a vast scale. The spectator could understand clearly the message, paintings are trying to portray through colours and scenes."

The students would learn tribal painting forms like Madhubani (Tribal form from Rajasthan), Gond (Madhya Pradesh) and Warli (Maharashtra and Gujarat). "It is a matter of really fine lines and fine texture. Brush is used to make these paintings," he added.

Raj Saini further said that these paintings are basically based on the Vastu and traditions of its area.

Warli form of art focuses on the rituals and happiness of people. It shows the human activities from dawn till dusk. Warlis extremely rudimentary wall paintings use a very basic graphic vocabulary like a circle, a triangle and a square. Their paintings were monosyllabic. The circle and triangle come from their observation of nature the circle representing the sun and the moon, the triangle derived from mountains and pointed trees. Only the square seems to obey a different logic and seems to be a human invention, indicating a sacred enclosure or a piece of land.

The Madhubani paintings define the creativity of the tribal artist fantastically.

It depicts the beauty of nature, melodious chirping of birds and people taking the pleasure of it.

Further, it also focuses majorly on lord Krishna and a different type of cloth is required to make a Madhubani art. The tribals live with their tradition and define it in their creativity and all the paintings have distinctive features.

Gond on the other hand, portrays the scenes, birds, animals and human faces on dark and vibrant colours. The paintings have brown or black base.

The fine lines and geometrical figures painted in red, blue and white acrylic and oil colours make them look more appealing to the eyes.
