Registration for online admission in under graduate courses finally started on Tuesday, a week after the scheduled date announced earlier. More than 5,000 students registeredv themselves for admissions in first 24 hours.
Students can now get themselves registered for admission in government and private colleges under Department of Higher Education. Presently only registration for UG courses have started while registration for PG courses are scheduled to start from June 1. But it appears that registration of PG courses will be delayed as the UG registration has been delayed.
According to sources, the delay in the online admission process occurred as Department of Higher Education (DHE) did not compile the information of verified courses in colleges and available seats on time. last year DHE provided over a month’s time to college administrators to provide information about verifies courses and seats, while this year hardly a week’s time had been provided.
Also the college administrators remained confused regarding issue of new password or they have to use the old password only. last year DHE issued login ids and passwords to each and every college participating in online admission process but this year college administrators kept waiting for new passwords but instead they were informed that they have to use old password only.
DHE Commissioner VS Niranjan said that to increase security of college information the process got delayed. Information of seats, verified courses etc are uploaded or changed through the individual passwords of colleges.
To increase the safety of these passwords, information uploading and changing system had been made very complicated due to which information uploading took more time.
He further said that DHE for convenience of students has increased the number of associated banks. Now students will be able to pay the registration fees through State Bank of India, Punjab National bank, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Bank of Baroda and Allahabad.
Earlier only three banks were associated with the online admission process due to which students from rural and remoter area had to travel to far distance for paying registration fees.
