Only one nomination filed for State BJP prez post

It was a peculiar situation in the State BJP on Monday. After it was declared that only one nomination has been filed for the post of State BJP president, almost everybody congratulated State BJP chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan. However, it was claimed that official announcement would be made on Tuesday.

Soon after the meeting at the State BJP Headquarters, when Chouhan came out, almost every party worker and leader congratulated him for his second term as the BJP president in Madhya Pradesh. It took around one hour for them to welcome him with garlands and bouquets.

While talking to media persons, Chouhan himself declined to accept that he has been elected as State president once again. “Only the election committee would declare the results and that would be announced on Tuesday,” he said.

However, he claimed that it was only Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who had recommended his name for the second term. Without his initiative, his single nomination for the post was not possible. He said, “Good rapport with the Chief Minister helped him in winning his confidence.”

Earlier, talking to media persons, Chouhan said that BJP would take a collective decision if the matter of re-inducting Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board inconsistencies-tainted former minister laxmikant Sharma into the party came up.

Sharma himself resigned from the primary membership saying that he would return unblemished. “He is my friend and I am glad that he was granted bail,” Chauhan told.

Notably, after spending approximately one-and-a-half years behind bars, Sharma was released on December 20. Following that development, numerous BJP leaders advocated his re-entry into party ranks.
