Outsiders’ would have to stay outside the decision making panels for ticket distribution of civic polls. The BJP in Madhya Pradesh has decided to keep out from decision making panels all those who joined the party during the 2013 Assembly and 2014 parliamentary elections.
This is evident from party panels formed on Monday to decide the candidates for the local bodies’ elections. None of those leaders, who had crossed the party floor, has been placed.
The BJP leadership on Monday announced divisional committees that would finalize the lists of candidates that would be sent to the State-level coordination committee. Besides, State-level appeal committee has also been declared that would listen to the grievances of those who would not be able to get party tickets.
These leaders include MP from Bhind Bhagirath Parasad, MP from Hoshangabad Rao Uday Pratap Singh, MP from Sagar laxminarayan Yadav, MlAs Sanjay Pathak, Mukesh Chaturvedi, Narayan Tripathi, former MlAs Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi and Dinesh Ahirwar and former MlA from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Parasram Mudgil.
Party sources claimed that these leaders would not have any say in the ticket distribution for the local body elections. It has been decided that the divisional committees would finalise the ticket aspirants by visiting the places so that only genuine leaders working on the ground would be chosen. Besides, it has also come to fore that the party also did not involve its first time parliamentarians in the candidate selection process.
However, discrepancies have come to light in the committees announced. Ironically, the name of senior leader Kailash Sarang has been included in two committees - State-level selection committee and the appeal committee. It means that Sarang would select the candidate and he would also hear the plea filed against this decision. The party sources also feel that those claiming candidature for the post of Mayor have also been included in the committees.
