An online art workshop was held on Thursday. It was organised under Art and Beyond learning initiative.

On Thursday Paper Collage workshop was held. It was jointly organised by Child Risghts Observatory, Madhya Pradesh, Art Design Teacher Forum and Srajna Academy of Design and Arts. The workshop was conducted by expert Meeta Johardutta on Facebook Live.

Paper collage is a technique of an art production where the artwork is created using an assemblage of different forms and shapes using paper. These forms and shapes eventually create a whole image.

During the workshop, Meeta explsined how to create an art piece. The participants brought different varieties of papers cut into small pieces, pencil, glue and scissors. First the participants sketch out their favourite shape or drawing and then they had to stick the paper pieces properly on it.

Meeta said that uniformity in sticking pieces is quite important to give a nice finishing touch to the art piece. The participants created some beautiful art pieces during the workshop.

A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas.

It is to be noted that  the origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.
