Cyber Crime sleuths have nabbed Rahul Sharma for his involvement in a fraud nexus operated by mastermind Vinay Singh alias Bittu. In the fraud, several victims were cheated in the name of providing jobs and placements using a fake job website.
The nabbed accused Rahul Sharma used to provide duly signed bank cheque books and ATM cards of fake bank accounts in return of 10 per cent of the total deal. During the investigation when Vinay was quizzed, he provided details of involvement of Rahul and based on the information, cyber cell personnel searched for Rahul in Delhi and on June 19, the police officials successfully nabbed him.
Police said when Rahul was quizzed he accepted his association with Bittu.
He further said that he had provided cheque books and ATM cards of fake bank account to Kishanpal alias Prashant Gupta who used to withdraw the amount himself and with the help of his acquaintances and after deducting 20 per cent as commission he would provide the money to Avinash Singh and Ankit Soniwal. Avinash Singh and Ankit Soniwal are still at large.
Notably, Vinay Singh alias Bittu who was involved in the organised crime in which a gang was targeting potential job seekers, asking people to deposit their money in the bank accounts to get jobs.
The matter came to fore after victim Ghanshyam Maheswari of Kolar lodged a complaint that the placement service company shine.com had duped Rs 8 lakh in the name of facilitating a job.
Based on the complaint in the investigation, it was found that Vinay Singh, alias Bittu, of Gautam Budha Nagar Uttar Pradesh was behind the fraud.
Vinay Singh confessed that he used to work for Avinash Kumar Singh and Ankit Sonewal of Jharkhand. He used to call the applicants in the name of Shine.com Company and would persuade them to deposit money in several bank accounts for facilitating jobs.
The bank accounts were managed by another accomplice Kishanpal alias Fauji alias Prashant Gupta. The accused had cheated a lot of people at many places.
