With the succession of Mobile Money Order Service or Mobile Money Transfer in the 300 post offices of the State, this service has been expanded to 300 more post offices.
The Mobile Money Transfer service began in the State on September 30, 2013 by India Postal Services in collaboration with Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNl) which has proven to be a benefit for the customers. Notably, this service is now available in 600 post offices of the State. To use the service, senders would required to visit the post office in the region
where the service is available, than deposit the amount and give the receiver’s details. After this, they would get a 16 digit transfer code on their mobile phone, which they have to send to the recipient via SMS. The recipient can claim the money at a nearby post office by showing the transaction code and verifying his identity. Recipient also needs to withdraw the money within 7 days of transaction. It’s not clear as of yet, whether one can send money even to locations that currently do not support this service, we will update the post once we get clarification on that. This is one of the most used and easy way to transfer the money. The Postmaster General Anil Kumar informed
that with the use of this service anybody can transfer the money to their near one in a spin of time. This service is easy and even the service tax is also less. If the amount of Rs 1000-1500 is sent the service tax imposed would be Rs 45. Similarly, if it is between Rs 1502-5000 and Rs 5001-10,000, the service tax imposed would be Rs 70 and 112 respectively.
