Now, all silence after Diggy's damp squib

After the Madhya Pradesh High Court reached the conclusion that the Excel sheet provided by Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh was not original as claimed, Singh is left with the only option of approaching the Supreme Court.

Singh had submitted some evidences including a pen drive containing the Excel sheet that was allegedly tampered with for giving clean chit to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the infamous MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) examination scam. The decision of the High Court has given a chance for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hit back at the Congress and Digvijay Singh on the issue.

State BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chouhan told mediapersons that Singh hatched a conspiracy to malign the image of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He also claimed that Chouhan has passed the litmus test and emerged clean.

However, factually court's decision has left several questions unanswered. Digvijay Singh had submitted an affidavit along with documents submitted with the SIT; if the affidavit was false, the State Government is free to register an FIR against him, but Government still seems not concerned about it.

The State BJP president said that legal experts are being consulted for further action, while Digvijay Singh has clearly challenged in the past few days that the Government is free to arrest him.

Moreover, the Chief Minister's decision not to comment on the issue also raised several doubts. When he was talking to media persons on Saturday regarding the earthquake and Omkareshwar dam issues, he declined to comment on the relief he got from the High Court, stating that he would convene a press conference separately on the matter.
