In a dramatic development, parliamentarian from Ujjain Premchand Guddu’s son Ajeet Borasi on Saturday became the official Congress candidate from Alot Assembly constituency of Ratlam district. The situation did occur after the nomination of the party’s official candidate Kamal Parmar was cancelled.

The incident surprised many senior Congress leaders of the State. Guddu, also chairman of the party’s Election Publicity and Publication Committee was seeking party ticket for his son but due to opposition by other parliamentarians and senior leaders could not get it.

Sources close to the MP informed that seeing that he would not get the ticket for his son he changed plans and got the ticket for his close confidant Pappu Borasi who did not even submit his bio-data to the party. This candidature was also opposed tooth and nail by the party workers and in a dramatic move the party changed the ticket and replaced him with Kamal Parmar.

Parmar submitted his nomination on the last day of filing nomination and Guddu’s son Ajeet Borasi filed nomination as dummy Congress candidate. Parmar did not attach his caste certificate with the nomination papers due to which his nomination was cancelled. After that the Congress named Ajeet as its official candidate. Sources said that some senior leaders of the party were hand in gloves with Guddu in this game.

Meanwhile, BJP has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Election Commission alleging that Ajeet submitted his B form after the stipulated time.

Sources claimed that the B form submitted by Parmar also had the name of Ajeet on it and that is why after the cancellation of Parmar’s nomination Ajeet automatically became the official candidate of Congress. Notably, the B forms are issued with the signatures of the state presidents of political parties and with this, the candidate is considered as official candidate of that particular political party.
