Notorious criminal Sahil arrested

PNS

In a significant breakthrough, Bhopal police arrested Sahil alias Tausif, a 23-year-old wanted criminal with a Rs 5,000 reward on his head, from the Qazi Camp area on April 18. The arrest was made by the Hanumanganj police following a well-planned operation based on a confidential tip-off. A sharp knife was recovered from his possession during the arrest.

A resident of Qazi Camp behind Danish Hotel, Sahil had been absconding after being involved in a violent assault, extortion, and arson incident, and had previously been banished from the district due to his criminal background.

The arrest follows a complaint lodged on April 16, 2025, by Farhaj, son of Pappu alias Haseen, also 23, and a resident of Municipal Corporation Colony, Tila Jamalpura. In his statement, Farhaj alleged that Sahil, along with his accomplices Shabbar and Uvesh, physically assaulted him, hurled abuses, attempted to extort money, and later set fire to his scooty.

The Tila Jamalpura police promptly registered an FIR under relevant IPC sections. While Shabbar and Uvesh were arrested and produced in court on the same day, Sahil managed to flee, prompting the Deputy Commissioner of Police to announce a cash reward for information leading to his arrest.

On April 18, acting on reliable intelligence, a police team led by Inspector D.P. Singh, in-charge of Hanumanganj police station, surrounded the Qazi Camp area and apprehended the accused after a swift and coordinated effort.

The recovered weapon has been seized as evidence, and Sahil will now be produced in court for further legal proceedings.
