School Education Department has issued guidelines to the public, related to free admission in private schools under Right to Education Act in State.
As per the provision in the Act, 25 per cent admission will be given in Class-I of non-grant and recognised private schools. If pre-school education is provided in a school, admission to class nursery/K.G.I /K.G.II will be given. If direct admission is provided in pre-school classes and Class 1 in private school, then minimum 25 per cent admission of the number of admitted students in both will be for reserved seats. State government has fixed the age of students for admission in nursery as 3 years and minimum 6 years for admission in Class I as on June 16, 2017. No school will now be able to give admission to a child under 3 years in nursery and pre-primary class and over 7 years in Class I. If a child has completed 5 years as on June 16, he will be eligible for admission in Class I.
The situation related to birth certificate has also been made clear in the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act. In case the birth certificate as per Birth, Death and Marriage Registration Act is not available, valid documents for admission in schools has been fixed. For this, the hospital and A.N.M register record and anganwadi will be considered valid. The guardian’s self-declaration will also be valid but the birth certificate will have to be presented within six months to the local authorities. It will be however mandatory for children belonging to deprived groups and weaker sections to give certificate in this regard for free admission in non-grant private schools.
