PNS

The National Green Tribunal (NGT), Kolkata, on January 18 last dismissed the intervener application filed by Gopalji Panigrahy in lower Suktel case.

The original application was filed by Satyanarayan Banchhor of Suktel area challenging the validity of environment clearance granted to the project and praying for stoppage of ongoing construction work in the project area. To the intervening application of Panigrahy, the original applicant filed their opposition saying the intervener application is not a necessary part for adjudication of the case and the intervener application is filed to derail the entire court proceeding.

The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests submitted a draft reply and sought two weeks time to file an affidavit. The matter will come up for final hearing on Feb19. In this matter the Government is represented by Advocate General Surya Prasad Mishra while the applicant is represented by his counsel Sankar Prasad Pani.
