Narela Assembly constituency sees repeat contest of 2008

Staff Reporter

Narela assembly constituency of the State capital is witnessing repeat contest of 2008 as both the major political players of the State, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Opposition Congress have repeated their candidates. The conditions are a bit differ though this time as in 2008 Congress candidate Sunil Sood was sitting mayor and the BJP candidate Vishwas Sarang who is now MlA.

Narela constituency is witnessing a fight between candidates with differences in age, presence in public domain and above all polarized votes among the two communities.

Sarang mass a huge following among youth of the constituency and remains accessible which is his USP and he is going to bank on the relationships build in the last five years. Interestingly his mass base has widened which includes youths in large number which are seen in huge number during his campaigning and could prove handful in mobilizing the voters on the day of voting.

Sarang has worked in maintaining public relations and is going to be encash it in the form of votes while on the contrary Sood is heavily relying on traditional Congress’ vote bank which is Muslims.

Campaigning of Sood appears to be a pro-Muslim as the number of supporters visible at the campaign office are Muslims that clearly signifies that there is polarization of votes and Sood is going to bag maximum number of Muslim votes but his political hibernation in the past few years after facing defeat in the 2008 assembly elections is going to hurt him.

Sunil Sood had given a tough fight in the state assembly elections 2008 but after his defeat he went into a political hibernation which is going to harm him in the state assembly elections 2013.

The conditions are totally different this time as the present BJP MlA and candidate from  Narela constituency Vishwash Sarang has a huge mass base and his visibility and accessibility among masses was  prime factor in his tenure which has increased his credibility among the masses.
