Terming the Congress as the grand old party not having any work to do except for leveling baseless allegations, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in ousting a corruption-ridden party from the Centre and bringing in a BJP-led Government.
Naqvi while talking to media persons here on Tuesday said, "We were not confident of getting absolute majority but Prime Minister Modi was fully confident of getting it. It is due to his efforts that the BJP got a thumping majority."
Naqvi further said that minorities including Muslims played an important role in the formation of the BJP Government at the Centre. The way of Government is tough and full of thorns and support of all sections of society is needed for running the Government, he added.
He said "Efforts and devotion of party workers is included in the formation of the Government. The Government could not do anything without the support of workers. BJP Government exists in many States and would come up in many States in the coming days. We need to continue our united efforts to strengthen the party and increase its mass base," he added.
He was in the city to participate in the national executive meeting of the Minority Cell of the party. The meeting of the cell would formulate strategy to add Muslims into the saffron party.
Replying to a query over Modi Government, the BJP vice-president said that the Central Government is dedicated to security, education and prosperity. The Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP Government of the State is continuously working in the interests of the minorities and this could be gauged from the victory of the party in the Assembly and parliamentary elections, he added.
Refusing to comment over the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, the senior BJP leader said that the issueless Congress is trying to find out cockroach from the dry well of corruption.
The Congress' fort of corruption has been washed away and the grand old party does not have any work to do except for leveling baseless allegations, he added.
