Nandkumar Singh Chouhan was on Monday re-elected as the president of the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), besides 29 National Council members from the State were also elected unopposed. The nomination process was completed on Monday but the formal announcement in this regard would be made on Tuesday.
The process for the election of the BJP state president and the National Council members was held here in the presence of senior party leader and central observer for organizational election, Ramdas Agarwal, on Monday at the party's State headquarters at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Campus.
State in-charge for organizational election Ajay Pratap Singh conducted the election process.
Agarwal after scrutiny of the nomination papers said that only Nandkumar Singh Chouhan had filed nomination papers for the president's post. He filed three sets and all the three sets of documents submitted were found to be correct and hence Chouhan has been elected as the State president, though formal announcement in this regard would be made only on Tuesday as per schedule, he added.
Agarwal further said that election for the 29 National Council members, including 4 Scheduled Caste (SC) and 6 Scheduled Tribe (ST), were also held. All the nominations were found to be correct in the scrutiny. The formal announcement of results of the election would be announced on Tuesday at the party's State headquarters at 11 am, he added.
He said that a total of 4 women have made it to the National Council as members from the State, of them 3 are from ST while 1 is from the general category. For the National Council members from the SC category Satyanarayan Jatiya, Virendra Kumar, Thanwarchand Gehlot and Bhagirath Prasad have been elected unopposed. Similarly, from the ST category Anusuiya Uike, Jay Singh Marawi, Phaggan Singh Kulaste, Nirmala Bhuriya, Gajendra Singh Patel and Jyoti Dhurve have been elected unopposed.
The central observer for the organizational elections said that the general category members elected for the National Council are Sushma Swaraj, Raghunandan Sharma, Jay Prakash Patel, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Motilal Tiwari, Vikram Verma, Omprakash Saklecha, Sundarlal Patwa, Kailash Narayan Sarang, Ajay Vishnoi, Dhiraj Pateriya, Prahlad Patel, Prabhat Jha, Narendra Singh Tomar, Anup Mishra, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Kailash Joshi, Ravendra Mishra and Rakesh Singh as their nomination papers were found to be correct in the scrutiny.
