Amidst covdi19 scare, Madhya Pradesh exhibited an example of brotherhood as Muslim locals performed last rites of an elderly Hindu woman who died of old age on Wednesday morning and her kin could not reach the city due to lockdown.
The incident comes close on the heels of another such example from South Toda Indore where Muslims had taken part in funeral of Hindu woman Draupdi Bai after her sons had no means to perform last rites.The incident in Bhopal was reported from Tila Jamalpura area of Bhopal. The woman had died of old age reasons and after her demise, her relatives could not reach her home due to prohibitive guidelines amid covid19 scare.On this, local Muslims came forward and arranged the funeral procession with the family of the woman. A video of the said funeral procession also went viral in which the Muslims were seen carrying the woman on their shoulders wearing skull cap and masks.
Later exChief Minister Kamal Nath too tweeted the incident terming the same an example of Ganga Jamni tahjib of the country which signifies communal harmony.
These incidents have taken place amid growing corona scare in state. On Wednesday, the total number of positive cases surged to 938 in Madhya Pradesh with Indore reporting 133 fresh cases and its tally reached to 544 while Bhopal’s total positive cases were 167.
