Surprisingly, Madhya Pradesh does not have the facility of wall climbing which is also a national and international sports.
Wall climbing is purely a sports demanding physical strength stamina, concentration and swiftness requiring very less investment in compare to other sports. There are thousands of efficient children in the State who have the potential of becoming a champion in the wall climbing sports but as they don’t have the facility they cannot practise.
It is to be noted that there are two stadiums in Indore Nehru stadium and Holkar stadium besides there is one more stadium is being sanctioned in Rau tehsil of Indore district which is the constituency of Sports Ministere Jitu Jirati but presently no provision of wall climbing is in any of these three stadiums is apparent. Sports officer of Indore district Joseph Baxla told the The Pioneer that it is true that presently there is no government facility available for the wall climbing sports in MP though there is facility in one private schools of Indore which claims very high fees from students and only students of rich family can study in this school and avail the facility of wall climbing but for the students of government school and other aspiring sportsman from the middle and weaker section no government facility for wall climbing exists in the state.
Sources said that the tribal people who live in hilly area are very good in climbing trees and mountains and rocks and if such people get the opportunity for the sports like wall climbing it is sure that the state and the country will excel in this sport.
