MP BJP confident of 'acche din' for State

With the hike in railway freight and fair before the railway budget, the political parties might be considering that these are not the good days (acche din), as promised by the BJP before the elections, but the saffron party leaders feel that good days are ahead for Madhya Pradesh.

The BJP leaders feel that with Madhya Pradesh receiving a considerable representation in the NDA Government at the Centre, the BJP here claimed that this will bring in growth and development to the State and end the step-motherly treatment meted out by the previous dispensation.

Elated over good representation of MP at the Centre, State BJP’s spokesman Vishwas Sarang claimed that it is the beginning of good days for the State.

Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan has been elected as lok Sabha Speaker and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar was chosen unopposed as Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh. MPs from the State have also found presence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Council of Ministers with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj (Vidisha), Mines, Steel, labour and Employment Minister Narendra Singh Tomar (Gwalior), Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot and Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla (both members of Rajya Sabha from the State).

Former State Chief Minister Uma Bharti is the Union Water Resources Minister, though she was elected from Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi lok Sabha seat in the recent elections. “After Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh has got maximum representation at the Centre and this is an indication of the beginning of acche din (good days - a slogan used by the BJP in the run-up to the lok Sabha polls) and end of step-motherly treatment meted out by the Congress-led UPA Government to the State," he added.

Countering the claims of the BJP leader, Chief Spokesman of Madhya Pradesh Congress KK Mishra said, "Though it is a fact that Madhya Pradesh always had good representation at the Centre, the Congress leaders were insensitive towards the needs of the State, especially on the development front."

Welcoming the development, State Congress unit chief spokesman KK Mishra said, "In the larger interest of the State, Congress believes that after getting due representation at the Centre, the development of the State will be reflected in real sense and not just in words."

"In view of the limited resources and global recession, it is difficult, but despite that if any development of the State takes place, then it would be a blessing," he further said, adding that even if the BJP Government is able to control inflation, improve law and order and reduce corruption, the Congress would consider it as the beginning of good days.
