'Modi should have first visited mosque in India'

In order to protect the secular fabric of the country, an All India Muslim Personal law Board (AIMPlB) has launched "Deen aur Dastoor Bachav Tehrik" (Save Faith and Constitution Movement) on Monday across the country.

The Board considers that pluralism of India in regard with different religions, cultures and languages is regularly attacked ever since emergence of the new Government and there is a need of mass awakening to realise attack on their rights by the communal forces.

AIMPlB working general secretary Maulana Mohammad Wali Rehmani without naming any regime alleged here on Monday that after the change of power at the Centre, attempts are being made to promote a particular religion at the cost of secularism.

Maulana Rehmani while addressing media persons said, "In order to protect the secular fabric of the country, a "Deen aur Dastoor Bachav Tehrik" (Save Faith and Constitution Movement) has been launched in the country on Monday."

Rehmani further said that it has been observed that the basic tenets of Indian constitution like secularism, justice, freedom, equality and fraternity are being compromised with an intention to colour India from a secular State to a particular religion-based country and AIMPlB strongly opposes it.

Answering a query on Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's visit to the world's third largest mosque in UAE on Sunday, Rehmani said, "First, before visiting any country's mosque, it would have been better if Modi could have visited any Masjid in India."

He also said that according to Sachhar Panel report Muslims are backward in the country educationally as well as economically but no effort has been made by the present Government to ameliorate their condition.

AIMPlB working committee member Maulana Khalilur Rahman Sajjad Nomani was also present on the occasion. The board is also meant to gather support for the movement from other minority organisations and secular-minded people asking them to join in order to raise voices against oppression of minorities and provide voices to the oppressed section of the society.
