Staff Reporter

A meeting of the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) to review the working of its hotels and motels was presided over by Minister of State for Tourism Surendra Patwa on Thursday. Patwa, in his presidential address, said, “We need to make the MP tourism so excellent that the visiting tourists on their return to their native places should praise our excellent services.”

Patwa further said that in 2009, one crore tourists visited the State this figure reached to 6.42 crore in 2014. Such a huge increase per year in the number of tourists is definitely the result of the hard work of the entire tourism team. The tourism team deserves kudos, but we need not to get satisfied with our work. We should keep in mind that wherever satisfaction comes, development becomes slow. We continuously need to deterge our work, he added.

He told the field staff to send proposals of whatever requirements they have for the field work so that facilities could be developed more and we could become the State that provided best facilities to the tourists. We need to use word ‘we’ in place of ‘I’ so that one remains junior, senior, employee, officer and all should unitedly work as a team. The three national awards of tourism we won this year are also the result of teamspirit and for that all the employees of the department deserve compliments, he added.

The minister assured that no compromise at any instance would be made in facilities and we would provide the best services to the tourists. He instructed the officials concerned to start weekend musical programmes at Highway Treat at Dodi. The year 2015 is a gift as Tourism year and we have to take up as an opportunity to make Madhya Pradesh a shining start of Indian tourism, he added.
