To seek solutions to its problems and beat challenges, the Bus and Taxi Operators Association of MP organised a one-day conference at Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore. This was the first time in Madhya Pradesh that public transport businessmen were gathered on such a large scale.

The event saw presence of more than 500 public transport businessmen which includes taxi owners, school bus service providers, contract carriage operators for marriage and events, tour bus operator, inter- state bus operators and stage carriage operators, etc.

In this conference, various challenges related to public transport business and the possibilities of taking this business to the next level were discussed. The conference also discussed the representation and preparations of Madhya Pradesh for the National Convention ‘Prawaas’ of BOCI which happens once in two years. Bus Operators Confederation of India (BOCI) was constituted five years ago.

BOCI is a non-government, not-for-profit, Passenger transport industry-led and managed organization which plays a proactive role in India’s development process.

On this occasion, chief guest of the program i.e. the chairman of the Institute KT Rajshekhar, (SRS Travels, Bengaluru) said, “Infrastructure should be built to promote public transport. Due to lack of adequate information and understanding, the officials working in government departments take some wrong decisions regarding public transport matters, which make the public transport system weaker rather than making it better.

Therefore, it is very important to raise awareness in this matter from the judiciary system to the general public and the operators. President of the Institute Prasann Patwardhan (Purple Mobility and Happy Travels, Pune) informed about the upcoming event ‘Prawaas’ to be held in Mumbai from July 25 to 27.
