Staff Reporter

The Post-Graduate (PG) counselling for private and Government medical colleges which was put on hold by the Apex Court would resume on Monday. The Supreme Court in an order had put on hold the counselling on April 28 this year.

According to the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) director, Dr SS Kushwah, the registration process for all seats would take place from May 5 to May 9. “Candidates, who have already registered in April, are not required to re-register again. After completion of registration and scrutiny, choice filling and choice locking will take place online,” he said.

According to the schedule, processing and declaration of seat allotment will take place from May 10. PG counselling is for MD and MS, diploma and dental degree (MDS) courses for admission to medical and dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh.   Counselling was placed put on hold after the SC passed its directive on a petition filed by Ishita Dua and others v/s State of Madhya Pradesh.

The petitioner argued that Madhya Pradesh domicile applicants who completed their MBBS from outside the state should not be considered as domicile. According to Dr Kushwah, the State Government’s view has been upheld by the SC and any student from MP, no matter where he/she has studied, would be considered as a domicile.
