MBBS students cite MCI rules, demand grace marks

PNS

Some students of MBBS first prop have demanded grace marks in both theory and aggregate. Quoting the new rules of Medical Council of India the students said that they should be passed by giving grace marks of 1 to 5 marks. But in the ordinance of Jiwaji University the grace marks can be given either in theory or aggregate not in the both.

According to information, the Jiwaji University has recently declared the results of MBBS first prop in which there are some students who secure 1 to 5 less marks in theory and aggregate in one subject so they have failed. These students have searched out a new rule of MCI to pass with grace marks. They have submitted a copy of this rule to the officers of Jiwaji University and demanded that they should be passed by grace marks in both theory and aggregate but according to the examination scheme of MCI which is in possession of Jiwaji University it is written there in that the students can be given grace marks up to 5 marks in only one examination of theory, practical, viva and aggregate. So the university is not prepared to give grace marks up to 5 in both the examinations.

The students have warned the university that if they are not given grace marks in both the exams they would approach the court. Since the students have new rules of MCI. The officers of Jiwaji University have demanded information of new rules of MCI from the medical faculty dean Dr Nilima Chandel legal advice is also being sought in this case. According to the scheme of MBBS examination prescribed by the MCI separate marks up to 50 per cent in theory, practical and viva must be secured by the students. Apart from this the aggregate of theory and practical should be 50% in aggregate only than the students would be passed.
