Hoardings of a Muslim match making convention in the State capital is raising eyebrows of the clerics as they consider it as anti Islamic if the veil system is not followed strictly in the programme.

A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Sameer Khan is organising the convention on September 22 at Shyamla Hills in Bhopal. Interestingly, there are no details about the convention in the hoardings except for Muslim match making convention, dated September 22, place Shyamla Hills Bhopal. Other information on the hoarding is that all are cordially invited and in the last is the name of the organiser of the convention – Sameer Heights Private limited. Maulana Azmat Shah Makki – Qazi for the Shahjehanabad circle of the State capital, while talking to The Pioneer over the issue said, “Whosoever is organising the convention should adhere to the Islamic rules. Women should come up on the stage in burqa and there should be separate sitting system for men and women.”

Makki further said, “If the organisers do not intend to follow Islamic rules and are planning to organise it like that of other religion’s match making convention where women come in front of the audience without any veil then we would oppose it and would not let it happen.” However, when the organiser of the convention Smaeer Khan was contacted he was not very much clear about the design of the programme and when told that the clerics are opposed to it if the veil system is not followed he said, “We would follow the veil system and would also make separate sitting arrangements for men and women.”

When he asked as how is it possible for a match making programme to be organised with burqa clad women and separate sitting arrangement for men and women Khan, said, “We have not yet finalized anything and there is over a month to go for the programme, we would consult the Qazis and Muftis before going for the final show.”
