The MP State police cyber cell arrested a wanted accused carrying a reward of Rs 2,000 over his head. He had been on the run for two years after he was accused of creating a fake Facebook profile of a girl to defame her.
According to the police the accused identified as Indralal Marawi used to work as support staff at a coaching center where the victim used to come for learning typing the two became acquainted but later the accused created a fake facebook profile of the victim to defame her.
A complaint was lodged by the victim with the cyber cell Jabalpur and in her complaint she stated that a fake facebook profile has been created in her name using her photographs. The miscreant wanted to defame her using the photographs.
The victim claimed that the she was not aware that the photographs were ever clicked and have been used without her consent.
Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation it was found that to avoid been traced miscreant used to operate the facebook profile from different internet cafes. later police narrowed down on Indralal Marawi but he went absconding and later after around two years he has been finally arrested.
During the investigation the police found that the accused was acquainted with the victim and later he started to like the victim but after she stopped speaking with the accused he created a fake facebook profile and wanted to create pressure over the victim.
The police have registered a case under section 66 A of the IT Act and have started further investigation. Police said further details of the accused would be searched and crime record of the accused would be investigated.
