A person who posed as police officer and extorted money from different people was nabbed by Habibganj police on Monday.
After receiving complaints that a person is extorting money from several people, police swiftly nabbed the miscreant. The nabbed miscreant was identified as Appi Sadana. He was booked for several cases by Koh-e-Fiza police. The accused is a resident of lalghatti area.
The miscreant used to operate a gang and used a police uniform which worked as a shield to evade and suspicion and arrest. In the investigation it was found that the accused used to wear the police uniform to impress others which helped him in his criminal activities.
Accused had a network of people which worked in his extortion business. The accomplices used to extort according to his instructions.
This is second such incident within a week in which imposters have posed as fake police officer with ill intentions. City Crime Brach had arrested two fraudsters who duped a man with lakhs of rupees posing as officials of Crime Branch few days ago.
Other accused involved in the network would also be searched. The period for which the accused and his network have been working is yet to be investigated, police said.
