Mainak Dhar’s ‘Brand New Start' predispose to kick-start careers

Staff Reporter

Mainak Dhar’s new book ‘Brand new start’ aims to help young employees build a more purposeful, authentic, and compelling personal brand to kick-start their careers.

The author shares anecdotes from the book “A strong brand is defined by its impact on its consumers or those it serves. So, a person with a strong personal brand defines success as serving others and spends time to understand what these stakeholders need, and focuses on meeting their needs versus defining success in a purely selfish way. Secondly, strong brands are driven by a sense of purpose, so I encourage everyone trying to build a strong personal brand"

The author talks about what goes into the creation of a book and how the conditions surrounding can help “ When the Covid pandemic broke in early 2020 and the first national lockdown was announced, I observed that many people were seeing their careers impacted- losing jobs, feeling insecurity and sometimes, having offers rescinded.

I decided to use my long leadership experience in the corporate sector to try and help.”

The author talks about the problems which the youth are facing and solutions that his book is offering “There are a few problems around focus which I think Brand New Start can make readers rethink. First, focusing on success in a way that is defined by others. A lot of dissonance and disappointment emerges without reflecting on what plays to their strengths and passions. Second, focusing only on degrees and marks as defining our success and potential.”

Dhar wears many hats. Of all the roles he plays, he considers being a good husband and a father as the most important ones.
