The unseen world of women was beautifully narrated through a Hindi play ‘Madarsa Balighan’.Notably, the play was staged here on Wednesday as a part of 24th Iftekhar Theatre Festival ‘Yaadien’ at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan.

Directed by renowned theatre director Farrukh Sher Khan, the play is written by Rafi Shabbir. The play was wonderfully staged by the artists of Adakaar Theatre Group, Bhopal. The play is about a Madarsa which is known as Madarsa Balighan. Women from all walks of life live in this Madarsa and share their life with each other.

The story of the play surrounds a woman, Roshanara, who is called as ‘Aapa’ by people. She is the protagonist of the play and through her the audience sees the lives of other women of Madarsa Balighan.

Notably, Aapa is an experienced lady and the most respected one. As she is older in age and has grabbed knowledge from experiences of life rather than from text books. She is a lady of values and virtues. She is given a task to teach these women in madarsa under a project. As she goes there she meets different characters . Trying to develop a conversation with all of them, Aapa develops a bond. Each woman has her story of life.

Aapa creates connectivity with them and share the happiness and sorrows of each woman. Together these women share their desires and dreams with each other and this was the essence of the play.

With each situation coming their way, the characters get closer to each other and united. How all the women of madarsa try to face their life’s ups and downs, challenges and tragedies was wonderfully shown in the play Madarsa Balighan.
