Sixteen-year-old Rahul of village Tumda in the outskirts of Bhopal was suffering from retina ailment in his both eyes, for the last two years. He was operated upon at Sant Hirdaram Nagar based Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital and now he is able to do everything by his own.

In the year 2013 he was studying in class eighth in local Government School. But due to this visual ailment he was not capable to see something on black board and even study his books.

His class teacher suggested his parents for his eye treatment. Then mother Savitri brought his son to Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital. After preliminary investigations, doctors observed that Rahul is suffering from retina disease in both of his eyes.

Doctors recommended his retina surgery which was then costing Rs15,000 for each eye. Rambharose Ahirwar, father of Rahul is a farm labourer and he earns only Rs 3,000 a month and thus his earning for the five-member family is not adequate. So, without telling the reason of poverty, Savitri returned to village with his son without obtaining treatment.

Despite of keen interest in studies, Rahul was not capable to continue studies and now he also stopped attending his classes. Coincidently Siddh Bhauji on last Sunday sent a team of Sewa Sadan volunteers to search poor patients for their free surgeries. As soon as team members saw a young boy, he was covering his shanty with a plastic-sheet to save his family from forth coming rainy showers.

The team observed that the young boy was not even capable to see the nearby objects and doing this task was very risky for him. The team members immediately rescued him and brought him carefully from roof to earth.

On inquiry about his visual impairment, his mother told that she was a poor woman and not capable to afford such a costly surgery for his son. Soon after volunteers explained all things to Sewa Sadan on mobile phone and sought the permission for his free surgery. Sewa Sadan trustee lC Janiyani granted permission and then mother along with Rahul came to Sewa Sadan next day where free surgery of his retina was performed by Dr Mansi Kishnani. After undressing his bandage on Thursday, Rahul expressed pleasure and said that he is now seeing the objects better than before. His mother was also happy. Rahul said that now he will again continue his studies and thus his dreams come true.
