Both of them were always together even in the hard times Ba and Bapu have set goals for patriots and couples. The entire life of Kasturba Bai and Mahatma Gandhi was showcased through a Hindi play Ba sang Bapu.
The play was direcyed by Bishna Chauhan and was performed at Shaheed Bhavan. It was performed on Wednesday marking fhe tbird day of Azad Ba suri Natya Samaroh.
The little kids presented the story of Kasturba Baa before the Bhopalites. The play was jointly performed by the artists of Manikarnika Cultural and Welfare Society and Kalandhika Cultural and Welfare Society.
The play spoke about how Kasturba learnt from life and not school; as Gandhi’s companion since the age of seven she taught him the lesson of non-violence. The play highlighted what she must have felt as a young married girl whose husband left her for many years and then made the whole country his children with his believe in 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.
Kasturba Gandhi later grew into a freedom fighter in her own right, being jailed several times including in South Africa, for her leaderships in many movements which were separate from Gandhiji’s. She also spoke about how the contribution of women like Kasturba are often undermined when history is written by men. She also took part with him in all the movements he started against British rule. The play was brilliantly performed on stage creating a wonderful ambiance on stage which was loved by the audience.
