The seven books of Kalidas are universally accepted by modern scholars. Two epics Raghuvansham and Kumarasambhava, one Khandkavya Meghdoot and one Ritukavya Shringar Ritusanharam. The three plays are Malavikagnimatram, Vikramorvasiyam and Abhigyanashakuntalam.

Abhigyanshakuntalam is considered to be the best among plays and Raghuvansham is considered to be the best among poems. Hence there is fame in his ancient work named after Raghukar. The great poet Kalidas has tried to present his era in different types in his literature.

Purohit said that Kalidas told stories, through descriptions, through seasons, through Bharat Darshan, from this point of view, Kalidas's philosophy of life, which is social philosophy, is very comprehensive and all-encompassing.

The description given by Kalidasa at the beginning of his Raghuvansam seems to have been the tradition of this country since the mythological period.

Mohan Gupta told that when the poet composes poetry, then there is a vision of the then social system in it. Mahakavi Kalidas has beautifully portrayed the society in all his three plays. The great poet Kalidas has presented a picture of the entire social system through his literature.
