State Congress has alleged that ministers of the newly-formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State have not come out of their jubilance mindset leaving the peasants to suffer in this important period of Rabi crop.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Kantilal Bhuria in a statement here on Monday said that the ministers of the BJP Government are partying while the farmers in the State are facing problems of urea, electricity and water for irrigation. “The problems of the farmers should be treated seriously by the BJP Government as the administration is not paying any heed to resolve these issues of farmers forcing them to think that after the assembly elections the BJP is not concerned with their woes,” Bhuria added.
Bhuria added of the total of over 25,000 cooperative societies about 23 are in possession of BJP leaders and workers. Be it the season of Kharif or Rabi, the BJP men leaving farmers concerned gets involved in profiteering. They have created fake shortage of urea and are earning profits by selling the urea in black market to the farmers from shops and godowns, he added. He said that the information pouring in from the districts says that the urea that is to be sold at the rate of Rs287 per bag is being sold freely at the arbitrary rate of Rs380 to Rs400 per bag. Farmers are forced to buy the urea at this arbitrary rate as they have to save their crop. The small and poor farmers are worst hit due to this as in want of urea their crops have started getting fade, he added.
The State Congress president said that the chief minister in his maiden meeting of his new cabinet and top officials of the state told to finish the fake urea and seeds racket but the problems faced by the farmers show that the orders of Chief Minister have gone in vain.
