All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Director Dr Sandeep Kumar tendered his resignation from his position. Dr Kumar took the decision to leave the institution after a high-level meeting of finance committee organised in New Delhi, earlier this month.
Dr Kumar will be the second senior official to leave the institution after former Dean Dr Kishore Chowdhury left AIIMS Bhopal in February this year.
Surprised students and faculty members tried to persuade him to take back his decision. Though Dr Kumar has resigned, still he has to stay in the institute until Ministry of Health and Family Welfares finds an alternative.
