Director General of Police Sudhir Saxena assured the families of the martyrs that the Madhya Pradesh government, police administration and the entire society are with them.

Saxena was addressing a program organized in the Police Commemoration Day function organized in the Martyrs Memorial courtyard located at Lal Parade Ground on Friday.

He paid tribute to all the martyred police officers and jawans of the country and the state. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Home Dr Rajesh Rajoura and Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai were also present in the program.

Director General of Police, Sudhir Saxena said that October 21 is a day of remembrance of the sacrifice of police and paramilitary forces in protecting the integrity of the country and maintaining internal security. In the year 1959, on October 21, 1959, at an altitude of 16,000 feet, 10 soldiers of a CRPF patrol contingent under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Karam Singh were killed in an encounter with the Chinese Army at the inaccessible hot springs of Ladakh. All the police units of the country celebrate 21 October as Police Commemoration Day in the memory of their devotion to duty and the sacrifice of their lives for the defense of the nation.

The brave soldiers and officers of our Madhya Pradesh Police have also given their services and martyrdom from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from Goa to Nagaland.  This year 16 of our jawans have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

On Police Commemoration Day, we all pay homage to these comrades. Also want to assure their families that you are all a part of our police family and will always be.

The law and order situation in the state is strong. Madhya Pradesh Police is determined to maintain the atmosphere of peace, law and order and development at any cost. On the internal security front, our police are working relentlessly with efficiency and sensitivity.

I assure all of you that in future also we will continue to serve with the same capable devotion. I would also like to thank the peace loving people of the state, whose disciplined and brotherly conduct has made our state today's reputation in the country.

The Parade included contingents of Women's Platoon Special Armed Forces and District Force, Men's Platoon of Special Armed Forces, Police Band Platoon, Dog Squad and Horse Squad were present.
