Keep accurate records of patients: Dist Collector

PNS

District Collector Anurag Choudhary has instructed all private nursing homes in the city to keep accurate and timely records of the patients and the medical care that is provide to them. The Collector, while issuing the instructions expressed displeasure at the fact that many nursing homes don’t keep proper records and said that such practices are dangerous and unacceptable.

The instructions specially mention the patients that are being admitted through the 108 Janani and private ambulances and stipulate that all such patients need to be registered immediately upon admission. The registration forms must contain details about the names, addresses, mobile numbers and nature of the diseases and the registration numbers of the ambulances.

Speaking to the media persons, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Mrudul Saxena said that as per the orders of the collector, written instructions have been sent to all the private hospitals in the city not to admit any patient who is brought there by ambulances unless it is an emergency. The hospitals have been told to refer all such patients to the nearest government hospital.

In the case of an emergency, prior permission of the CMHO or the nodal officer of the ambulances services need to be taken before admission. The mobile numbers of the CMHO and the nodal officer have been provided to all nursing homes.

The CMHO further said that it is mandatory for all nursing homes to keep records of the footage of the CCTV cameras and present them to the inspection team as and when required by the team. All the nursing homes have been asked to install CCTV cameras at all the entrances and exits of the hospitals. The hospitals have been further asked to keep qualified and trained medical staff at the ICU and wards round the clock.

The CMHO also said that strict action will be taken against the hospital authorities if it is found that they are playing the game of commission for looting illiterate and helpless patients. In recent times it has been found that many private hospitals in the city resort to dirty tricks to lure patients to their hospitals.
