There are a few incidents in your life that give you strength to do something different,” says a young CA student and social worker Riddhi Paliwal.

While all the others of Riddhi’s age are busy making a grand life for themselves, Riddhi and her friend Rohit Jain came up with a different idea to work for the street animals. Both being the animal lovers have started a youth organisation ‘Kartavya’ in city and take care of the street animals.

Kartavya came into being around three years back ie in year 2015. Initially it was an idea that struck to Riddhi’s mind and then she shared it with her friends. Slowly and gradually the idea became a big part of their life and so Kartavya was formed.

Around five CA students are a part of Kartavya. They take care of animals of their respective areas. Till now the members have taken care of more than 500 street animals.

Riddhi shared her journey with The Pioneer. She shared about the support from her family and friends and how they all are able to help the street dogs and cats.

“It all began with a sad incident that actually made Kartavya happen. Once I saw a female dog with her kids in a garbage bin in a drastically terrible condition. They were weak and thin. I was so touched that I started taking care of them. Each day I use to feed them until they got fit and fine and luckily the family now stays with me,” shared Riddhi.

Elaborating further, she said, “I always thought that even street animals need the love and care as much as the pets do. This incident gave me the idea for Kartavya. Being an animal lover I wanted to do something for the street animals too and now they have become a part of my world, my pals.”

The members of Kartavya not only feed the street animals, but also as required take them to the Vet for health examination. “Currently there are 20 animals who are undergoing a health treatment,” informed Riddhi.

The young students also help the animals to get adopted. Besides, there is also a foster home where the animals stay.

Talking about future plans for Kartavya, Riddhi shared, “We do this work in our free time and avoid harming our studies. So we are not planning to make it a big venture, but we will continue doing this way.”
