'Jyotiraditya best for CM's position'

Congress general secretary and former Chief Minister of the State Digvijaya Singh on Friday said that Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia would be the best leader for the Chief Minister's post after the Congress comes to power in the Assembly elections.

"The Congress stands united in the state. Party legislators determine who will be the Chief Minister. Workers are busy in poll preparations. I will not contest the Vidhan Sabha polls but, if the high command directs so, I shall enter the general election fray," he told media in Gwalior.

When it was pointed out that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was labeled as being born with a golden spoon in the mouth and State Industry Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya termed him a "pappu" (useless person), Singh said that the BJP is vexed over Gandhi's activities in Madhya Pradesh and therefore indulging in rhetoric.

"Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi tells lies and wrong figures are being presented with regard to the State's development. Gujarat is not numero uno in any sector. Certain people in the BJP are eulogising Modi," he alleged. The Pakistan Government is facing embarrassment following the death of Indian citizen Sarabjit Singh who was fatally assaulted in a Pakistan prison, Singh said while adding that the Congress condemned the incident.

"The Centre succeeded in bringing Singh's body to India by exerting pressure on the Pakistani regime.

The Chinese intrusion is a sensitive matter in the Centre's jurisdiction. I cannot react to it," he said.
