The Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the lokayukta nabbed junior engineer of Govindpura division MPSEB accepting Rs 30,000 cash to release payment of model house construction by contractor.
According to the Lokayukta officials, the accused senior clerk Shailesh Chaturvedi was caught accepting bribe of Rs 30000 from contractor Ashutosh Dubey.
The victim who works as contractor take government contracts and was awarded of building model house worth Rs 18 lakh and for the release of the payment of accused asked the victim to pay Rs 3 lakh victim and as a part of Rs 3 lakh he was asked to provide Rs 30000 as first installment.
On Wednesday when the accused was accepting bribe lokayukta officials nabbed him and on checking it was found that he accepted bribe.
The accused engineer asked the victim to provide bribe at his house.
It was also found that the accused had rented a house in Kolar in which an old age home is operated.
The Lokayukta officials have also checked other documents to find details of property and money disproportionate to his income.
After the victim was asked to pay bribe he returned after assuring that he would pay the money and later he lodged complaint with Lokayukta SP office and based on the complaint the accused was trapped.
The victim was asked to pay Rs 30000 and when accused accepted bribe he was caught red handed.
A case was registered under Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation into the matter has been started.
