Staff Reporter

While the junior doctors in Hamidia hospital were up in the arms against the administration, for not providing them adequate security in the hospital premises, a case of manhandling a patient’s relative by a junior doctor has come to fore. The Koh-e-Fiza police have booked a junior doctor for scuffle and abusing a man who requested for changing dirty bed-sheet on Monday. According to the police, a junior doctor scuffled with Ariya Khan of Guna whose son Ameen was undergoing treatment at surgical ward after Khan reported the incident to senior doctor which irritated the junior doctor.

The incident took place on Monday when Ariya Khan asked the junior doctor to arrange change of bed sheet as it was dirty and later he requested the same with the senior doctor after the accused junior doctor did not paid heed. After the senior doctor left the ward junior doctor got engaged in altercation with Ariya and scuffled. Junior Doctors Association (JDA) Secretary Dr Avinash Thakur said that the behaviour could not be justified but the circumstances under which the incident took place have to be considered.

Dr Thakur said that he was aware of the incident which was over a petty issue and said that the doctors and attendees of the patients remain stressed.

He was not aware of the doctor who entered the scuffle. Earlier to protest against manhandling of some of the colleagues, junior doctors of the Gandhi Medical College sported black bands while working on Monday.
