In a ghastly act, a jilted lover along with his brother and friends on Thursday afternoon allegedly killed a minor girl of Upar Adasing village under Gajapati district’s Gurandi police station a few days after her mother slapped him for his passing a comment to her daughter.
According to information, a youth of Sankurada village under Rayagada block had once made a love proposal and passed a comment to laxmipriya Sabar (14) of Upar Adasingh village while she was going to school. Since then she was being escorted to school by her mother Subasini. When the youth along with his brother came again and passed a comment, Subasini slapped on his face. On Thursday afternoon, when all men of the village had gone to work, the youth along with his brother and 15 others came on an auto-rickshaw and bikes and forcibly entered into laxmipriya’s house. They beat up Subasini severely, making her senseless. Then, they strangulated laxmipriya to death with help of her veil.
Though horrified neighbouring women opposed the youths, the latter threatened to kill them. After he returned from work, the deceased girl’s father Rupa Sabar lodged an FIR at the Gurandi police in the night in this regard.
Police seized the body and sent for post-mortem to the Paralakhemundi DHH after registering a case. Subasini’s condition was stable.
“Around 15 to 17 youths are involved in the alleged crime. We have arrested the main accused, his brother and two of their associates. Investigation is on,” said IIC P Shyamsundar Rao. Paralakhemundi SDPO too interrogated the arrested four at the police station,
