Having failed to persuade a 25-year-old young woman to marry him, a 48-year-old married man attacked the woman with acid and committed suicide by stabbing himself. The incident was reported near Rama Krishna hotel under Ashoka Garden police station area on Friday.
Sheer negligence by police personnel was witnessed in the incident, as the victim had approached the Ashoka Garden Police stating that there is threat to her life by the assailant Sanjay Patil. However, the police officials present there, declined to take any action saying that the residence of the woman falls in Bajaria police station area. Sensation prevailed in the area after the gym instructor Renu Sahu was attacked with acid by Patil, who was her father’s friend. Soon after committing the crime, the offender committed suicide by stabbing himself.
Seriously injured Renu Sahu is undergoing treatment at Narmada hospital while Patil died later in the hospital. During the investigation, it was found that the victim used to work as a gym instructor at Ironman gym. Patil was her father’s friend and after the death of her father, he started frequently visiting the house and he used to object Renu’s working as a gym instructor. Patil has three children and lived at Shalimar Sterling apartments; he worked as a property dealer.
