Jail inmates bathe with Ganga water

PNS

To mark the Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025, the sacred water of Ganga Maiya was ceremoniously brought from the Prayagraj Mahasangam to Central Jail Indore in a special Vedic tradition. The initiative was led by Central Jail Superintendent Mrs. Alka Sonkar, who organized the event to bring spiritual solace to the inmates.

As part of the Ganga Kalash Yatra, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s National General Secretary Milind Parande and State Head Jitendra graced the occasion as special guests. They were warmly welcomed by Jail Superintendent Alka Sonkar, who led the sacred procession to the main auditorium of Central Jail Indore.

In a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative in Madhya Pradesh, the holy Ganga water was symbolically offered to all inmates as a Mahakumbh Ganga Sangam Snan (ritual bath), accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras. The deeply spiritual event filled the jail premises with devotion as inmates enthusiastically chanted “Ganga Maiya Ki Jai”, creating a divine and uplifting atmosphere.

The program was attended by Deputy Jail Superintendent Inder Nagar, Santosh Ladiya, Senior Testing and Welfare Officer Abhishek Dangi, Nagle, and other officers and staff members of Central Jail Indore. This extraordinary initiative brought a sense of hope, peace, and devotion to the incarcerated individuals, marking a historic moment in the prison’s spiritual outreach efforts.
